Preventing reckless drug behaviour

The FAMILY FIRST Party rejects soft-on-drugs or so-called ‘harm minimisation’ strategies and exposes the lax and foolish attitudes prevalent in South Australian law towards taking, manufacturing and selling illicit drugs.  FAMILY FIRST is also concerned about the virtual alcohol epidemic our society faces, which puts families at risk and burdens our health system.

A DRUG and alcohol facility designed to help addicts in the APY Lands is yet to be opened because a politician “has not been up there to cut the ribbon”, State Parliament has heard.  Family First MLC Andrew Evans yesterday told Parliament the “long-promised” facility was ready for use but was waiting for a politician to open it

CONSEQUENCS of binge drinking and other alcohol abuse will be investigated by a parliamentary committee.  A Bill to explore the social, criminal, health and economic consequences of drinking, introduced by Family First MLC Dennis Hood, passed the state’s Upper House on Tuesday night.  The Bill was supported by the Liberals, but Labor voted against it.
